Objectives
United Sri Lankan Community of Canada is a non-profit organisation established for the following community objectives:
3.1 Guiding the community to integrate with other communities living in Canada
3.2 Promoting inter-cultural and inter-religious understandings
3.3 Sharing accurate information on current issues to the community
3.4 Support the Canadian Government's good faith efforts and become stakeholders
3.5 Guiding the community to enhance their academic and professional qualifications
3.6 Guiding the community to enhance their economic wellbeing
3.7 Encouraging the community to participate in sports and social programs
History
The United Sri Lankan community of Canada was established on 17th December 2016 for the purpose of promoting the values of the Sri Lankan community living in Canada through its objectives
Organizational Structure
There are four layers in our organizational structure;
General Membership - It is the power base of the organization, and the members are required to agree to the conditions set out in the constitution.
Executive Committee Membership - There are Ten (10) Members elected from the General Membership to the Executive Committee at an Annual General Meeting, and this committee has the final decision making authority of the organization.
Office Bearers - There are six (6) office bearers elected from the Executive membership, and they are responsible for the functions of the organization. The positions are Chairman, General Secretary, General Treasurer, Vice Chairman, Assistant General Secretary and Assistant General Treasurer
Board of Directors - The Chairman, General Secretary and General Treasurer will represent as the Board of Directors, and the board is responsible to uphold the conditions related to the incorporation set out by the Corporations Canada and its related activities
